Happy birthday 🥳 and happy 13th wedding anniversar Happy birthday 🥳 and happy 13th wedding anniversary to the man who makes my world a brighter, better place❤️
If you know Doug, you know I could wax on for days about what makes him the salt of the earth, one-of-a-kind human who lights up a room with a smile and envelops everyone he meets with his kind heart and his singular humor.
There is no such thing as perfection, but Doug is as close as it gets.
We wake up each day feeling loved and supported. We are each other’s person. We are a team. We face everything together knowing there is no one else we’d rather journey through this life with.
I love you Dougie!
Cheers to us and many more years of love, laughter, and unforgettable adventures.
The best is always yet to come with us 😘

Embracing the little things.
They can never fill the hole in our hearts.
And, we will never be the same.
But we feel Gunnar with us. Everywhere.
And in seeing the world as he did, the little things - are everything 🥹🦋 🐾❤️
Uncovered another oldie but goodie from the VHS va Uncovered another oldie but goodie from the VHS vault 🫣
These clips are from the years I co-hosted a talk show at KCBS in Los Angeles called Woman 2 Woman.
I had been anchoring and reporting at the station for about 9 months when the GM developed an idea for a new daytime talk show and tapped me to co-host it with a local news legend who would not only become my mentor but also a dear friend.
The show featured a mix of women-oriented topics, celebrity guest interviews, and a sprinkle of local and entertainment news.
I was 31-years-old and living the dream!
My daughter was only three years old but every Friday she’d be in the studio watching from the side and on some occasions, we’d bring her on the show.
What I remember most about this time is that I worked hard and had fun with every opportunity that came my way.
I maintained that mindset and approach throughout my career.
Today marks 11 years since I left traditional news.
Family needed to come first and the grind had to take a backseat.
That I’ve been able to continue working in television for almost 36 years now, still blows my mind!
The landscape is different but the joy is still there.
Embrace the change ❤️
Trust the process ✨

To all of you who posted your beautiful words of comfort or sweet freedom wishes for Gunnar, I thank you, from the bottom of my broken heart 💔
It’s been 5 days and I continue to cry. The pieces of my heart ache. At times I feel I’m suffocating in grief 😢
But your messages give me so many reasons to smile.
Gunnar was our special soul dog and he touched people - in person or through pictures and videos - because his eyes carried so much of his heart, humor, love, and joy.
Each image revealed his happy, goofy, unique personality.
I still talk to him and sing to him the way I always have because I believe Gunnar is with us still.
We see glimpses of him out of the corner of our eyes or hear him breathe or move.
I’ve also received messages from him via a dog whisperer friend of mine (yes, I believe). He knows I’m sad but has promised to stay with me for as long as I need him. To which I say, “How about forever?” 🐕🐾

This picture is one of my favorites. His Dad was his absolute favorite person. I never fooled myself into thinking otherwise 😉
But Gunnar and I spent the most time together and I know he loved me with all his heart, even though he probably got annoyed by me asking him a million times a day, “Do you love your mama?”
I think it’s pretty clear from this image that he did 🥺

Stay tuned for more pictures and videos from Gunnar’s adventures during his 13+ years on this earth - with a little context from me - the mom who delights in giving him a voice.

❤️
Gunnar’s Mama
If you knew Gunnar, you know he was a one-of-a-kin If you knew Gunnar, you know he was a one-of-a-kind, special dog - more human than animal.
Gunnar looked imposing - all 125 pounds of him. But he was a gentle giant who still believed he was a puppy.
His big, brown, marble-like eyes pierced your soul and melted your heart.
Gunnar never met a stranger and often preferred humans to animals because he truly considered himself a human.
So did we.
For more than 13 years he filled our home with an immeasurable abundance of love.
And we loved him back, with everything we had.
We gave him a spectacularly big, beautiful life, including many trips to his favorite place - the beach - where he ran like the wind with pure and unabated joy.
We included him in everything, and thankfully, I always had a camera pointed at him.
We now have a treasure trove of videos, photos, and memories reminding us just how happily he lived.
He was the best.
He was our constant.
Our family glue.
Our biggest, sweetest boy.
Our hearts are broken into what feels like a million pieces.
The house feels empty.
The grief is overwhelming.
The pain is deep.
Sometimes I feel like I can’t breathe or that I can’t get through this. If you know, you know 💔 😢
My niece sent me this quote and it hits hard.
“I will endure a lifetime of missing you for the privilege of loving you.”
It was a privilege to love you, Gunnie, and we will never, ever stop missing you.
The beach will never be the same without you.
Nothing will.
But you are with us.
Always and forever ❤️
Gunnar

Never let a voice – even your own – create doubt t Never let a voice - even your own - create doubt that your dreams are within reach💛

Unboxing old videos like this remind me that before college (and even college itself), this kind of dream would’ve seemed insurmountable.
College shifted everything.
Surrounded by believers and achievers, I grew confident and fearless. I seized every opportunity presented to me and created possibilities I hadn’t even envisioned.
8 years after leaving Los Angeles for my first anchor job in Weslaco, Texas, I returned - not as an intern or a desk assistant, but as a 30-year-old living the dream I left with: anchoring and reporting in the number two market in the country.
It came with so many pinch-me moments, like working and anchoring alongside journalists I grew up watching and admiring and even a few whom I once ripped the scripts for as a college intern. I traveled to report on national and international stories, earned an Emmy nomination, and even co-hosted a talk show with an L.A. legend who became a dear friend and mentor.
I was in awe on that first day of work. And then I went to work - to prove to myself and everyone else that I didn’t just make it, I earned it.

Do not let the noise or self-doubt interfere with your vision.
Embrace the challenges and the opportunities.
When you believe in yourself first, the possibilities are endless 🙌🏽
